My Sweet Stalker

Yes, I have a stalker. I can hardly call him that. But I do get frequent phone calls and post cards from him without me returning the favour. He has told me he likes my smile and thinks we are somehow connected because both our first names start with a 'P'. Is that stalker behaviour?

He's from India, visiting his family and he is about 80. Sweet man and lonely. I met him last year when he visited Canada. He stopped me on the street and asked me to follow him to his home and help him with his fax machine. Quite the line, if you ask me. Being always one to fall for a pick up and since I had some time on my hands, I took pity and helped him out, going into a stranger's home and apparently into his heart.

So what's a girl to do? I thought the complete lack of reciprocity on his communications from afar would be a deterrent but Mr. P has tracked me down. He is back in the country now and I am to meet him for a chat in the park. *sigh* He is nice enough and we do find something to talk about for short chats, though I find him hard to understand at times with his thick accent. It just takes up time and I just don't have tons of patience for it. You know I am way too nice to be anything by friendly. This has got to be good for my karma, right?

  1. whoa! an 80 yr old stalker. who would have think it. just think, you are giving an old, probably lonely man some time and friendship. there is no way that your kharma points aren't going to go through the roof with this! maybe casually slip in that you are leaving the country? might bring the points down a little thought.

  2. OMG, seriously?? That's kind of flattering and creepy at the same time. I also have real difficulty cutting it off with someone who I'm not that interested in...I'm just too polite and nice and I just really hope they get the picture from the amount of sighing I am doing (they never do).

Either you're in, or you have to fight your way out. It doesn't sound like it'll be too bad if you can't bring yourself to lie to him :).

  3. Maybe if he let his dog poop and didn't scoop it right in front of you you'd be able to shun him -- nah, that wouldn't work :). Only you, Pammy -- you siren to the over-80 set, you.

  4. This is totally good karma. Totally.

I have never exactly had a stalker to this degree, but I have been in similar situations. I think maybe it's a sign that I lack boundaries. I just don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, ever.
