Vacation?

My husband is off this week and home and it is completely messing up my schedule. Sure, it was all very well on day one. We had a great day-date (watching a 3-D Surfing movie and having lunch at the Snug Pub in the Market). Things have gone downhill fast.

This is day three. I haven't been able to get on the computer for my morning "fix" of blogs and Facebook. I am still doing all the stuff I always do such as dragging the kids to school in the morning and making gourmet, or at least, passable dinners for the lot. And, of course, we've run out of small talk. I'm not used to thinking of intelligent conversation before sundown. It is all very strenuous.

Day four tomorrow and I need a plan. Maybe I could break something around here and send him to the hardware store for an elusive part. Perhaps we could head to the mall with a gold card handy to get stuff we don't need. Or maybe, I could suck it up, read up on how to talk to adults and go for a skate on the canal with him. At the very least, he gets to pick up the kids at school when it's 40 below.

  1. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who has this problem. Sometimes I find it worse to have Joe home in the morning. I expect that he's going to help and I can sleep in, but I end up still doing everything and then get frustrated because I'm running behind. Oh the joys of being a wife and mother, but yet, I wouldn't want it any other way.

  2. Hi! I'm a new follower to your blog!

I had the same thing happen recently. My husband is in the military, and he was home for 3 straight months on parental leave after our baby was born in September. We went from not living in the same house for almost a year, to being together 24/7 ... it was quite the adjustment!!

  3. Ha! This post made me laugh out loud. It's so true! I totally understand all those wives who go bananas when their husbands retire. All that puttering around the house gets in the way.

  4. Oh, blasted husbands getting in the way & messing up our schedules! I know what you mean though, every now & then when we get a child-free night, I find it hard to talk about anything other than the kid!
